Nadia Vulvokov is the main character and the protagonist of Russian Doll. She is portrayed by Natasha Lyonne.

Personality[]

Nadia is sarcastic, brash, and confident. She commands most situations and is willing to tell anyone exactly what she thinks of them. While some considering her to be selfish, she gradually becomes a better person as the time loop she's trapped in forces her to confront her behavior and deep-seated emotional issues.

She also feels a deep guilt regarding her mother's suicide and blames herself for it. This guilt deeply affects her relationships and inspires much of her recreational drug use. She is also addicted to nicotine and a regular smoker.

Russian Doll PortalDoor

The Portal Door repeatedly seen by Nadia

Nadia is seen looking at herself in the mirror in Maxine's bathroom. Knocking occurs loudly and she opens the door noticing the pistol-style handle. She leaves with two girls entering after her. She is called "sweet birthday baby" by Maxine, who gives her a joint laced with cocaine "like the Israelis do it." ("Nothing in This World Is Easy")

Lizzy arrives and talks to Maxine about their door, which Nadia doesn't enjoy. Nadia eventually begins talking to Mike Kershaw and they leave to go to the shop to buy condoms for a hook-up. Nadia talks to Farran, who she asks about her cat too. He states he hasn't as his drunken friend knocks over some cans. Some men ask Nadia where to party and she sends them to an abandoned warehouse due to their rudeness. Nadia and Mike leave and have sex. After, they talk and Mike talks about 'deep' stuff which annoys Nadia. She calls an Uber for him and he leaves. Nadia returns to her party to find John Reyes, her ex, who was looking for her. She and him talk and she asks him to help find her cat. They search the streets for him, and do find him. However, when Nadia sees him, she runs out into traffic and is hit dead. ("Nothing in This World Is Easy") [. . .] However, Nadia doesn't truly 'die' and rather resets, in Maxine's bathroom.
